Exciting New Food Hubs for Sydney

According to Good Food, an influx of restaurants and cafes can bring a real sense of pride to a community and can promote change and investment from local council.

Restaurateur Tona Inthavong, who opened Green Peppercorn Thai and Lao Restaurant in Fairfield in 2012, said that seeing an injection of restaurants has meant better amenities for locals and a reason to visit for outsiders. Cabramatta now sees more than four groups running food tours, which means people are coming from all over Sydney to see what Fairfield has to offer in the way of food.

It's not just multicultural Fairfield that's experiencing a boom in food, however, with other regions of the city also making waves on the foodie trail. Among the hottest food hubs are:

Ashfield: Renowned for its Shanghai-style Chinese food and Polish delights, Ashfield is the place to go to try every style of dumpling or potato pancake.

Bondi: The beach side town of Bondi is now one of Sydney's most exciting food and drink scenes, with Gould, Hall and Curlewis streets attracting people from all over the city. Whether it's a drink at Icebergs or a snow crab slider at Matt Moran's North Bondi Fish, you're sure to find something to tantalise the taste buds in Bondi.

Chatswood: Packed full of Malaysian, Chinese and Taiwanese eateries, Chatswood is the Chinatown for the next generation. It's modern, exciting revamp has everyone talking, and foodies are rushing to get in on the action.
