Where to Host Your Christmas Get Together in Brisbane

1. Riverbar & Kitchen

As the name suggests, Riverbar & Kitchen is set right on the Brisbane River and offers a one-of-a-kind waterfront experience. Personally we recommend hitting the Riverbar & Kitchen in the afternoon for pitchers of their famous cocktails and snacks such as polenta fritters with tomato salsa, Kingfish tostados, lamb sliders and their epic RBK board loaded with duck liver pate, tapenade, smoked cod, pickled cucumber and radish.

2. Malt Dining

If you're envisioning a sophisticated get together that combines fine food, excellent wine and an elegant dining room, you can't go past Malt Dining. Situated within the iconic Wenley House, built in 1863, Malt Dining oozes historical class with grand architectural features. There are three dining areas to choose from: The Attic (a wonderful space showing off the history of the building), the Malt Bar (an eclectic mix of texture and colour framed by 160-year-old vintage brickwork), and the Malt Cellar. If you have a group of up to 20, it's the latter we recommend, being a truly elegant place for a small get together. Surrounded by walls of wine and champagne, it's perfect for a family Christmas dinner, intimate corporate celebration, or a degustation with friends.

3. Restaurant Two

For more than seventeen years, Restaurant Two has been treating the Brisbane locals to a special dining experience. Having recently undergone a refurbishment, Two's new aesthetics perfectly compliment its reputation for flawless fine dining, matched by a world-class wine list and memorable service. Chef David Pugh has been at the helm of the restaurant since its opening and uses classical French techniques to create a contemporary Australian menu. The private dining area seats up to 40, making it ideal for a large Christmas get together.

4. PUBLIC

PUBLIC offers fine dining food in a more casual environment. A diverse venue, it offers plenty of choice when it comes to get togethers, with two private dining rooms, a main restaurant, and a bar. All are available for full or partial venue hire. If your idea of a get together includes cocktails, the exclusive upstairs is the perfect way to incorporate a private drinks reception before moving seamlessly into a sit down dinner in your chosen space.

5. Aquitaine Brasserie

Inspired by L'Aquitaine in South West France, Aquitaine Brasserie is a contemporary riverside restaurant and bar located in the popular precinct of River Quay, South Bank. The menu is grounded with classical French techniques but brought to life with meticulously sourced fresh local produce. The wine list complements the ever-evolving menu, combining extraordinary international wines with the best local wines. Beer connoisseurs will be equally thrilled, with a long list of tap beers including Kronenbourg, Stella and Stone & Wood. For groups of 9 to 19 people, the Aquitaine Group Menu will delight with scallops, duck breast, pork belly, risotto, duo of beef and an All Things Chocolate dessert.

6. Bucci Restaurant

Set around a spectacular open kitchen, Bucci offers a sleek and sexy Italian dining experience in James Street, Fortitude Valley. It enjoys a buzzing atmosphere any day of the week and in just three short years, it has become a firm precinct favorite amongst the locals. Co-owner and Executive Chef Shaun Malone interprets the wealth of regional Italian offerings to produce a light and innovative menu your guests will love. The icing on the cake has to be the very special dessert menu, which includes Bucci's famous tiramisu.

7. Gerard's Bistro

Renowned for its Middle Eastern influences and relaxed yet sophisticated dining, Gerard's Bistro is a multi-faceted venue nestled away in Gerard's Lane. Blending fine lines, sharp angles and smooth finishes with earthy materials including marble, brick, timber, steel, brass, copper and glass, it offers a space you can't help but be in awe of. Head Chef Ben Williamson is one of the country's rising stars and takes his menu from recent sabbaticals across Southern Europe, the Middle East and Northern Africa. Diners can choose from a wide variety of seafood, meat and vegetable dishes, along with tasty desserts and an array of select beverages and spirits.

8. Mecca Bah

The Mecca Bah knows how to party, so if it's a lively get together with tons of fun you're after, then this is the place to be. The hands on and creative event team can turn any celebration into "THE" celebration and its banquet menus are ideal for large gatherings, including Turkish bread and dips, falafels, pastries and boureks, kebabs, calamari, pizza, salad and of course Turkish delight.

9. Urbane

An icon in the Brisbane dining scene, Urbane has a fierce reputation and a plethora of awards under its belt. The recipient of three chef hats, it's a source of inspiration, combining Queensland's best local produce with techniques from all over the world. The menu at Urbane cannot be labelled by country or style, but it will ensure you return home happy having tried something new. As for private dining, Sub-Urbane is a cellar-style dining space that can house up to 32 seated guests or 40 cocktail style. Flanked by 100 year-old stone walls with rough sawn hardwood panels and polished concrete floors, Sub-Urbane is a cellar in the truest sense.

10. Vintaged Bar + Grill

Showcasing the best of Queensland produce, architecture and service, Vintage Bar + Grill is a celebration of homegrown excellence. It sources and serves the finest local produce in a simple manner for maximum pleasure and from open grill steaks to premium dry-aged meats, the flavours are sensational. Space-wise, you are spoilt for choice at Vintage, making it perfect for intimate dinners, elegant banquets, cocktail receptions, soirees and parties. The Chef's Table seats nine and the two different private dining rooms seat up to 16. Whatever style of get together you're after, the team will create a bespoke menu to suit your tastes and needs.
