Aside from its three hat rating, The Bridge Room has received many awards over the years, including Restaurant of the Year 2016. Influenced by his 10 years of travels throughout Asia and Europe, Ross Lusted's menu is constantly evolving. His original cooking style, combined with an attentive service team creates a truly pleasurable dining experience, and the relaxed Nordic mid-century aesthetic of the dining room seals the deal.
For inspired, cutting-edge modern Australian cuisine look no further than Quay. There's a reason this restaurant took out the top prize of Vittoria Coffee Restaurant of the Year this year, and his name is Peter Gilmore. Gilmore's cooking is defined by his perfect presentation – a highly distinctive concern for geometry, symmetry and cleanness of line. It's also impossible to find a bad seat at Quay – with stunning views of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge while you eat, the view only gets more and more mesmerising as the sun goes down. It's little wonder Quay has held a 3 Hats rating for 14 consecutive years.
Bennelong has only been in business for just over a year and has already made it's mark, being named Best New Restaurant in last year's Good Food Guide Award. It's success is no surprise though, with Peter Gilmore at the helm here as well.
Bennelong has a more stripped back style than Quay however, with more produce-focused dishes. As a customer, you're also spoiled for choice. With a multi-level layout in the iconic Sydney Opera House, you're presented with several different dining options: The Restaurant, Cured and Cultured, The Bar, The Kitchen Table and Pre-Theatre Dining.
Located in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney, Guillaume is an elegant French fine dining restaurant. Head chef, Guillaume Brahimi, is one of Australia's most popular chefs, awarded the Vittoria Legend Award 2014 for his outstanding long term contribution to the restaurant industry. It is always a pleasure dining in the historic three level Darcy's building in Paddington.
The iconic Icebergs Dining Room and Bar embraces the panoramic world-class views of one of the most famous beaches in the world. With a menu inspired by Maurice Terzini's Italian heritage and seasonal produce, it's high quality dining all year round.
Another contemporary Italian restaurant with stunning views, Ormeggio at The Spit overlooks Middle Harbour and Pearl Bay. It has certainly earned its position as a two hat restaurant, having been hatted every year since it opened back in 2009.
"Food, and the hospitality associated with sharing it, is integral to the Sardinian way of Life." That's chef Giovanni Pilu's philosophy, and his regional Italian cooking and Sardinian-inspired menu at Pilu has also become an integral part of the lives of Sydneysiders who visit the restaurant. Since its opening it has been awarded prizes for both its delicious Italian cuisine and its wines.
Aubergine is the only two hat restaurant in Canberra and has been awarded two hats for the last five years in a row, highlighting its consistency in providing creative and interesting food. The wine list has also received several awards, with over 500 labels of interesting and classic wines to choose from. Aubergine has it all – unique produce, quality service, and great wine.
Aki is a sophisticated Indian restaurant run by the Mahadevan family and is best known for its signature crab entree and its beautiful waterside location. Its vibrant menu and charming service makes it a deserving winner of the Good Food Guide hat.
Baccomatto Osteria boasts fine Italian cuisine that perfectly mixes old school and new cool. Its minimalistic design, friendly feel and fresh ingredients were a welcome inclusion to Surry Hills when it opened back in 2012. And of course, great Italian food deserves great wine to go with it – and Baccomatto has been awarded for their wine list too.
