Casual Dining is This Summer's Trend in Eating Out

The trend in eating out among Aussies has become all about casual dining. Consumers are leaning towards restaurants and bars offering a relaxed vibe, while still serving up quality food.

Thai Chef Sujet Saenkham believes that eating out should be about good food served in a comfortable environment. For many Australians, it's all about getting more bang for your buck.

According to the CEO of Restaurant and Catering Australia, the dining habits of Australians have changed since the Global Financial Crisis. While people are eating out more, they're tending to spend less. The trends seem to suggest less interest in fine dining.

Yet not everyone agrees. In Brisbane, The Urbane Group, who run both Urbane and The Euro, have perfected a combination of casual dining with gourmet style food.

According to Keliann Zellman from Urbane, fine dining is still in demand, however the approach of customers to eating out is very casual. He said they often receive bookings on the day, but people are still interested in having a food experience that's about quality.
