Celebrate Aussie Wine Month This May

Dollarphotoclub_54939138It's time to get out and celebrate our love of a beautiful glass of wine with Aussie Wine Month from April 9 to May 31. This is the country's biggest wine celebration and brings good food, live music and of course plenty of fabulous wine to locations all over Australia.

With over one hundred events across the country, you can meet and greet some of the famous faces behind Australia's best wines, stroll through vineyards, descend into hidden cellars, learn about matching your food and wine, and have long lunches, luxurious high teas and lively dinners. There are also some unmissable adventures like the cycle tour of the Clare Valley wine region in South Australia, an Opera concert in the vineyards of Queensland's Ballandean Estate Wines, and an art and wine extravaganza at Western Australia's Leeuwin Estate.

Aussie Wine Month focuses on the best of our local wines, winemakers and wine regions. Wine Australia Regional Director, Aaron Brasher, explained "This May, it will be all about our local top drops – there will be food and wine festivals, behind the scenes tours, tastings, degustation dinners and much more across Australia."

Wild-Dog-Winery-7Our winery picks

Good Food Gift Card loves beautiful wineries too and would highly recommend a visit to the Wild Dog Winery in Victoria. This winery is perfect for a day trip as it lies about 100 km out from Melbourne and offers exquisite views of the vineyard and its Gippsland surrounds. The restaurant is modern with lots of dark wood and glass. Sit on the deck for a sunny lunch or find a cosy spot for two inside when night falls over the hills.

If you're in Western Australia, head to Henley Brook and dine in style at the Black Swan Winery & Restaurant. This beautiful building was designed to give a panoramic view of the surrounding landscape, including the vineyard and farms. The food draws inspiration from local, organic herbs and vegetables while the wine is both award and medal winning. Some of the Black Swan vines are 70 years old, providing a uniquely rich and intense flavour that wine connoisseurs simply must try.
