Good Food Honours Melbourne's Best New Dining Hot Spots from 2013

2013 saw a fantastic range of new restaurants open their doors in Australia. For Melbourne, there were some spectacular openings and some great rebrandings, with many restaurants thinking outside of the box to bring something fresh and exciting to the local food scene. Among those honoured by Good Food were:

Saint Crispin and Tonka – joint winners of Best New Restaurant

Saint Crispin and Tonka may be very different restaurants, but they both have well established players at their helms. Saint Crispin is the bistronomy baby of Estelle's Scott Pickett and former Press Club head chef Joe Grbac, and Tonka is modern Indian presented by the crew behind Coda.

Saint Crispin's finest detail is its daily updated menu, which bases itself on the days best produce finds. Tonka plays beautiful homage to chef Adam D'Sylva's father's heritage and brings an elegance to Indian cuisine.

Gazi – Winner of Best New On Trend Restaurant

Gazi is a no-frills, no-fuss bar that offers outstanding Greek street food. The decor is exciting and the atmosphere is buzzing. Chefs and bartenders work side by side, where they perfectly combine the art of food and drink.

Dainty Sichuan, Box Hill – Winner of Best New Under $30

With the third opening for Dainty Sichuan, Melburnians are treated to their very own induction cooker and choice of ingredients. It's DIY dining that's perfect for a night out with friends.
