How to Cook with Red Papaya

12Red papaya is a fruit commonly referred to as pawpaw and is native to the Americas. It is rich in healthy nutrients, but often people are unsure of how to prepare it. Taste offered a few tips:

Having bought a red papaya, store it at room temperature until it is ripe. You can tell this once the fruit has softened like an avocado does. Once ripe, store it in the fridge for up to three days.

When it comes to using red papaya in dishes, it can be used in a multitude of ways. The dark orange flesh brings a unique colour to any dish and its sweet, tropical flesh is perfect for desserts and cakes. Add to a delicious salsa and serve with jerk chicken, make a smoothie, team with prawns or just eat on its own. Your options are endless.

To prepare a red papaya, cut through the middle, remove the seeds and skin and take away the flesh. Chop to your desired size and add to your favourite dish.
